Leyton Orient were held to a 0-0 draw with struggling Burton at Brisbane Road.

The Brewers started the game nine points adrift of safety in League One but their stubborn defence, who recorded their second successive clean sheet on the road, earned them a deserved point.

Orient had been looking for a third successive win but the point left them just three points above the relegation zone ahead of the rest of Saturday’s fixtures.

An uninspiring first half with a series of ill-directed passes brought an untidy nature to the game with few chances created.

Jordan Brown and Jayden Sweeney had chances blocked for the home side, while Ben Whitfield briefly raised the visitors’ hopes before seeing his effort ricochet off a defender.

Orient started the second half more purposefully, with Dominic Ball sending a powerful shot following a corner over the bar before a cross from Dan Agyei went across the face of the goal without anyone applying a finishing touch.

O’s goalkeeper Josh Keeley twice denied Mason Bennett before Ball’s goal-bound shot at the opposite end was cleared off the Brewers’ goalline by Danilo Orsi.
