Robbie McKenzie was the match-winner as Gillingham ended MK Dons’ unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at Stadium MK.

McKenzie’s goal put Gillingham ahead just before the hour mark, with the Kent club winning an away league game for the first time since late September while MK Dons suffered a first defeat in seven League Two games.

The Dons had the best first half-chances when Glenn Morris denied Scott Hogan’s early miscued effort before the Gills keeper then kept out Joe Pritchard after the Dons man had won the ball off Harry Webster.

Hogan and Joe White came close again for MK Dons just after the break but Gillingham then scored.

After Jack Nolan’s shot was turned behind for a corner, MK Dons could not fully clear their lines and McKenzie’s shot crept under Tom McGill to give the visitors a 59th-minute lead.

Gillingham nearly came close to a second when Elliott Nevitt fired wide, but barring a hectic goalmouth scramble in stoppage time, they were able to keep MK Dons at bay to take the points.
